Default Protein absorption without working out?

I'm wondering about how much protein is actually used and absorbed by
the body (converted to weight, etc) without actually having any sort
of work out routines. I ask simply because I'm purely trying to gain
weight at this point, so working out is not yet a priority-- but I am
looking at making some brief but intense work-outs part of my routine.

Currently, I'm 5ft 9in and around 105lbs. I've been this height/weight
for about the last 8 years now (I'm 23). I'm the type of person who
can eat everything in sight for months and not gain a single pound.
I've tried different methods to gain weight, and am about to try a
different one which will be rather high in protein and calories with
little to no fat and sugar, in combination with short but intense
working out rather than steady and longer workouts. I'll be trying to
consume the protein and calories in the form of solids, rather than
protein shakes and such which I had previously tried (both powder
mixes and home-brewed).

Thanks!
-- Michael

Protein is food, so it gets "converted" by default.

Eat even more.

This diet is bullshit. Eat fat and sugar. A lot of it. Wash it down
with a beer, and eat some more. Protein is overrated when it comes to
weight gain. If I was you, I'd google for the way Sumo wrestlers feed
themselves. They often triple their bodyweight during their careers,
and build crazy amounts of muscles too. They do not worry about
proteins much, just plenty of food. They are very strong, too.

There is nothing wrong with speed. Speed is where the type of muscles
which have a potential to grow actually shine. Ever seen a slow hammer
thrower?

I wouldn't throw shakes out totally. You need to eat a lot, which in
practice means either very lengthy meals or a lot of shorter ones.
Having a shake takes less time.

I agree. Pizza and beer. Skip the beer if you like, but lots of good
fats, plenty of carbohydrates, and enough protein are what the doctor
ordered for you.
