| | | Protein Recipes Afternoon all,
I was wondering if anyone had any kind of baking recipes that I could
have using protein powder. I am looking for muffin, cookies..
basically anything I can make at home using whey protein powder.
Looking to up my protein intake, but I don't have the ease of storing
shakes here at work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks everyone, |

I think that any sort of muffin or cookie made with whey protein
would not be as good a source of protein as, say, a chicken breast or
something. I assume that if you have a place to store cookies
you have a place to store beef jerky or a cooked chicken breast?
If you don't have access to a refrigerator than grab a picnic cooler
and some re-usable freezer packs.
If you really want to go the cookie route than I would take a normal
cookie recipe and just add the whey protein. I would add a little bit at
a time and match it each time with a little bit of liquid so the dough
doesn't get too dry. I think some experimentation would be the best way
to go with this. |

There are actually protein bake mixes.
Atkins started it, but GNC has filled the gap with their own brand.
I've not tried it in a long time, but I once made a very nice hi-pro
ravioli that my sister approved of using one of John Romano's recipes
with a Soy protein powder.
Try googling. The recipes are out there if you look hard enough.
I personally prefer animal flesh. ;-d

When I first started building, I was told that timing with protein was
relatively important. So, I'm taking 30g of supplement 15 minutes
before working out, and another 30g after.
Assuming this is still true (the bodybuilding opinions apparently
change on a daily basis), you may be better off not using supplements
at all during the day, and instead using them near your workout time.
That being said, I've made oatmeal cookies with vanilla-flavored whey
protein, with great results. Just follow the recipe that is printed on
the lid when you buy Quaker oats (I think they're called "disappearing
oatmeal raisin cookies"), and add a scoop or two of protein.

On a similar topic, someone posted in a different thread about using
canned chicken to add 50g of protein to their diet. Anyone have a good
recipe for canned chicken that won't add a lot of fat and carbs?

It is "relatively" important. However, what is more important is getting
sufficient protein over time., e.g. your averaging 1gr/lb per day over
weeks/months rather than just on an ad-hoc daily basis!

1. open the can
2. eat the chicken

How about right out of the can?
