geez greg, i was with you all the way until that last paragraph referring to
"negores" (sic) and hispanics.
it would have been nice to leave it at; "All persons should be
> armed and learn the basics of firearms use" IF THEY CARE TO.
racial hatred does nothing but tear asunder the fragile fabric holding our
nation together. i am white. my wife is black so i think you can tell where
i stand on the issue.
look at it this way, if you must.
the african american and hispanic segments of our communities are here to
stay, man. as a matter of fact, they are growing significantly faster than
the caucasian segment. they ain't going anywhere. you don't have to like
them or accept them. but you better get used to seeing them around.
if you get pissed off every time you see a black or hispanic citizen, your
gonna be pissed off every time you leave your home, unless you relocate to
idaho.

geez greg, i was with you all the way until that last paragraph referring to
"negores" (sic) and hispanics.
it would have been nice to leave it at; "All persons should be
> armed and learn the basics of firearms use"... IF THEY CARE TO.
racial hatred does nothing but weaken the already strained, fragile fabric
holding our
nation together.
remember that horrible day, 9/11?
i was in a supermarket a few hours after it happened. who and why still
hadn't been sorted out. i live in a very mixed neighborhood. the lines were
long in the supermarket that day. maybe people were stocking up for some
sort of siege, i don't know. i bought some extra things i usually would not
have.
anyway. that tragedy had everybody talking to everybody else. race was
unimportant. a common enemy makes for strong allies.the unity, if you will,
brought about by this calamity felt good. it felt strong. it was good to see
disparate societal elements talking to each other, listening to each other.
i fear for you, greg. i fear people like you will eventually end up the
"common enemy," you'll be outnumbered and outgunned. and it could get REALLY
ugly. it ain't just white folks with guns anymore.
sometimes i think certain elements in our government promote racial discord
and disharmony to keep the masses focused on race while were ALL getting
screwed by these certain elements.
i think these elements also may manipulate the media into making
inconsequential stories seem huge. witness poor anna nicole smith. hey, i'm
sorry she OD'd. but what the fuck? how important was her death in the grand
scheme of things? is iraq more important? i think so. but that war took a
backseat to her for days and days in the media.
america is being "dumbed down." look at public schools! sheesh. stupid
people are easily manipulated, aren't they? but hey, baby, we'll have a
nice, illiterate work force who will labor away for low dough. good for
business, i guess.
anyway, look at it the race question this way, if you must.
the african american and hispanic segments of our communities are here to
stay, man. so are many others.
as a matter of fact, the hispanic segment is growing significantly faster
than
both the african american and caucasian segments. and the african american
segment is growing faster than the caucasian.
they ain't going anywhere, man. they aren't going away.
you don't have to like them or accept them. but you better get used to
seeing them around.
if you get pissed off every time you see a black or hispanic citizen, your
gonna be pissed off every time you leave your home.
what a rotten way to live.

Recent life
After the riots King was awarded $3.8 million in civil case, and used
some of the money to start a rap label: Alta-Pazz Recording Company.[4]
He would be arrested again on charges of spousal assault in 1999. Then
in 2001 he was ordered to undergo a year of drug treatment after
pleading guilty to 3 counts of being under the influence of PCP and
indecent exposure.[5] On August 27th, 2003 he would be arrested again on
similar charges as his 1991 arrest. King was said to be speeding as he
ran a red light while under the influence of PCP, and failed to yield to
cops. The money King was awarded was used to pay his more than one
million dollars in legal fees, and is now all but gone.[6] |

And the Pumps are in Syria !
March 21, 2007
This time it's faulty pumps. In its rush to meet President Bush's
promise to protect New Orleans by the start of the 2006 hurricane
season, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers installed defective flood-
control pumps last year - despite warnings from its own expert that
the equipment would fail during a storm, according to documents The
Associated Press has obtained.
"Let me give you the scenario: You have four months to build something
that nobody has ever built before, and if you don't, the city floods
and the Corps, which already has a black eye, could basically be
dissolved. How many people would put up with a second flooding?" Randy
Persica, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' resident engineer for New
Orleans' three major drainage canals, told The Associated Press.
In its rush to meet President George W. Bush's promise to protect New
Orleans by the start of the 2006 hurricane season, the Corps installed
defective flood-control pumps last year - despite warnings from its
own expert that the equipment would fail during a storm, according to
documents AP obtained earlier this month.
"Misgivings" about the pumps were chronicled in a May 2006 memo
provided to the AP by Matt McBride, a mechanical engineer and flooded-
out Hurricane Katrina victim who has been closely watching the
rebuilding of the city's flood defenses. The memo, which details many
of the mechanical problems and criticizes the testing procedures used,
was written by a Corps mechanical engineer overseeing quality
assurance at a site in Florida.
About a dozen of the 34 pumps on order were already in place in New
Orleans when Maria Garzino wrote her report. In her memo, Garzino told
corps officials that the equipment being installed was defective,
further warning that the pumps would break down "should they be tasked
to run, under normal use, as would be required in the event of a
hurricane," notes AP.
The pumps, 60 inches in diameter and capable of moving 200 cubic feet
of water per second, are run by pressurized hydraulic oil. The
supercharged oil cranks up a hydraulic motor, which in turn spins
water-moving propellers. The pumps failed less-strenuous testing than
the original contract called for, according to the memo. Originally,
each of the 34 pumps was to be "load tested" - made to pump water -
but that requirement for all the pumps was dropped, the memo said. Of
eight pumps that were load tested, one was turned on for a few minutes
and another was run at one-third of operating pressure, the memo said.
Three of the other load-tested pumps "experienced catastrophic
failure," Garzino wrote. |

i agree. hey, he's a minor leaguer, but with that statement he hit one right
out of the park.
sure, in the final analysis, it was more of a lament, than advice. he didn't
offer any solution. guess he was asking us to imagine what it could be like
if we all got along.
hey, "Food for Thought," by Rodney King would be a very small book. but it
would be great if everyone read it just to plant that thought.

>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
