People get bitter about a variety of things. People are frustrated
over a variety of things as well. So what if Obama stated that people
"cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them
or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to
explain their frustrations."? Big whoop. Isn't it true?

Bitter and frustrated, loves guns and religion. Sound so unfamiliar?
And most people are, unfortunately, anti-immigrant. Even immigrants. :
( Obama, from my perspective, was stating facts not stating that he
agreed with those facts or that he believes that scenario is the
ideal. The media loves to blow things out of proportion and focus on
comments out of context.

Um, no.

Ah, the "out of context" excuse. Gee, it took you freaks a couple of
days to start shooting that one over the wall.

In addition to Hillary being too tired to conduct the day-to-day business of
being President because she's up at 3 A.M. waiting for the phone to ring, we
now have the spector of the Chinese or Russians firing nukes at us because
Barack was "taken out-of-context".

Not unless he was describing Klan members. Apparently Obama fails to see any
difference between the angry white man loser faction and small town America.

I didn't mention the media, except as a source of Obama's comments,
which he's already admitted were his.

In the media. Uh-oh, do you suspect a C-O-N-S-P-I-R-A-C-Y? Was it
Hillary that actually said it? Are black helicopters circling your
trailer?

yeah- we're so freaking lucky to have had Bush and Cheny. Where would we be
without them? Oh yeah, out of debt and not bogged in an extremely poorly
conceived and executed war. Too bad they can't run again. Four more years and
we'd all be speaking Mandarin.

Both of which - the overspending and the war - were approved authorized and
voted for by Congress.

Do try to keep your history straight before you indulge in brainless
BushBash.

Yes, I wonder what you BushBash fools are going to do when they're gone?
You'll be too afraid to say anything if it's Hillary and Obama will put in a
re-education camp, so yeah - too bad you'll have to think for yourself just
once, eh?

Surely you exaggerate.

It's also possible many of us would be dying of cancer from a dirty bomb, or
incinerated in another airplane attack, or something else. We just don't
know what the present could have been - we only know what it is. And what it
is is this: there have been no terrorist attacks on U.S. soil as there have
been in other countries. Luck? Maybe. Prevention? Probably.

All wars are poorly conceived and executed. About the only modern war that
went according to plan was Gulf War I; we slaughtered thousands of the
fuckers.

I just read that a big contributing factor to Germany's failure in WW2 was
Italy attacking Greece! Hitler was furious! That meant that Britan would
assist Greece and threaten Hitler's push into Yugoslavia and southern
Russia.

The only way to get out of debt is to break the Democrat's hold on the purse
strings.

And I don't think everybody could learn Mandarin in four years.

Not saying that they have been great, just that they were better than
the Democratic alternatives.

Oh, it goes WAY further back than that! They've barely had anything you
could call a Party since Kennedy. What a collection of mis-leaders.

IAWTP. I have to believe that if JFK were alive he would either be a
Republican or the Democrats would be a much more conservative party.

Unlikely. You really think the TSA has done anything except piss off
the American public? If they had ever really caught a terrorist trying
to board an aircraft, they'd NEVER stop crowing about how effective they
are.

If we turned the army loose, as we did in GWI, this war WOULD have been
over in a couple of months. Armies kill people and break things; they
don't make good constables - which is what Washington has our army doing.

The only way to get out of debt is to break the fedgov's hold on the
purse strings and the money printing presses, no matter who seems to be
running the government.

Sure. They're good for a laugh.

For example, February last year I'm standing in line to board a Southwest
flight out of Phoenix. A dimunitive TSA agentette taps me on the arm and
says: "Excuse me sir, can I ask you to do me a favor?"

"I can't. I'm married," I reply.

(pause) (blush)

"Uh, I need you to step over there for additional, random, screening," she
says.

When I get "over there," there are four of us passengers: Me, a senior white
male, a senior black male, a young oriental lady, and a young Hispanic man.
Turning to the Hispanic guy, I say: "You know, you look more like a
terrorist than the rest of us. Be careful what you say!" This did not amuse
the TSA agent busily going through his bag. She made some smart-ass comment
about "what a terrorist looks like." I enlightened her.

This is the same airport, by the way, that, in February 2002, stopped a man
for trying to smuggle a "Ninja Star" type device on a flight. Turns out the
man was single-handedly responsible for bringing down 32 aircraft
previously, with the loss of life of all aboard! Good work, TSA!

Of course the man, 82-year old Joe Foss, was also the former governor of
South Dakota, former president of the American Football League, a retired
general in the South Dakota National Guard, and for 23 years the host of the
TV program, "The American Sportsman." He had just left a meeting of the
board of directors of the National Rifle Association and was on his way to
the United States Military Academy at West Point to deliver a guest lecture
on patriotism.

The "Ninja Star?" It was the Medal of Honor awarded to him by Franklin
Roosevelt for downing over 20 Japanese aircraft during the battle of
Guadalcanal.

Decorum constrains me from reporting what Foss said when told he'd have to
put his medal in the trash bin.

By all measures the failures in Iraq and Afganistan have made the world and the
US less safe. Sadam had 250,000 police to keep the peace in Baghdad, and Cheny
thought 100K was enough to run the country. Dumb. Whether or not one thinks
the unilateral invasion of Iraq was justified, that's just dumb. Bettr would
have been to take and hold Afganistan and push Osama out of Pakistan. Now
there is the very real danger of losing both. I find the thought of an Islamic
theocracy armed with nukes rather disturbing.

We've slaughtered 10s of 1000s. That is why we are in worse shape now. If we
could get the water, electric and gas flowing maybe we could win.

One can learn to say "Thank you boss- may I have another!" in just a few
seconds.

I won't try too hard, because I know it is hopeless to communicate with those
who still pretend the Rep party is fically conservative. 7.5 trillion of our
9T deficit comes from Regan, Bush I and Bush II (responsible for 3.5 trillion
all by himself). Of the 15 Budgets submitted by the 3 Rep. presidents, only 2
were balanced. These facts are easy to check. It is a myth that the Reps are
the fiscally conservative party. They are the Cut Tax and Spend as opposed to
the Tax and Spend party. If you are going to spend, you gotta at least tax.
No fair charging the grandkids for the war.

Just today the history news network released an informal poll of historians.
"Asked to rank the presidency of George W. Bush in comparison to those of the
other 41 American presidents, more than 61 percent of the historians concluded
that the current presidency is the worst in the nation’s history. <look at
that- the Worst!> Another 35 percent of the historians surveyed rated the Bush
presidency in the 31st to 41st category, while only four of the 109 respondents
ranked the current presidency as even among the top two-thirds of American
administrations."

98.5% said the Bush presidency was a failure. 1.5% said a success. I guess I
fit with the 98.5%- He has really let us down as pres.

I've loved my country under Reps and Dems, but Bush is the worst I have ever
seen. He has really screwed the pooch. The history network just released an
informal poll in which 61% of the historians responding (not scientific but
still) rated Bush II as the WORST president ever! I honestly do not know how
anyone could have been worse in anyones opinion.

I think you missed something. It was almost 100%.

Which says more about history professors than it does about Bush.

I suspect they're jealous. After all, Bush majored in history. The history
professors are probably all saying "If only I'd applied myself..."

You don't think they would limit the "survey" to "ivy league" schools
where 99% of the faculty are screaming communists do you?
