I finally resubscribed to Flex and MMI. And I picked up the recent
issue of MD which has a great Ronnie Coleman cover and what seems like
a dozen articles by one of my favorite authors in the bodybuilding
press, Ron Harris. Looks like I'll be dropping their subscription card
in the mail soon, too. http://ronharrismuscle.com/ http://www.bigroncoleman.com/
And certainly no apologies ever necessary from you, Om. I'm
embarrassed. I posed it as a riddle... an inside joke. (

Well, I purchased the November 2006 issue of Flex, in part, for Amanda
Savell. D See: http://amandasavell.com/
And over seven pages of article titled _Death in the Desert_ with the
continuing story of Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan and their arrest for the
murder of their roommate Melissa James.
I don't care how anyone slices it, Titus made some hella poor choices
in December 2005.

Yes. I would guess that coming month's covers will all pay tribute to
Jay Cutler.

I'd love the back story (no pun intended) on the decision? New judges?
Word from on high? Just the way things go? Jay's posing routine,
condition, etc.? The Moses outfit did RC in? ;o)

I'd like to see the data on that claim, too. I'll go along with the
excitement factor in a way - predictability would take some fun out of
it, but as I've said before, I really think I'd have a great time at a
show like the Olympia regardless of the placings. Hell, they could
reverse the order and I probably wouldn't complain.
In fact, I've attended the Arnold Classic several times and, other than
Rich Gaspari as the winner of the first ASC, I couldn't tell you who
won any of them without looking. And didn't they strip one of the
winners of their title in the Ms. International? Tonya Knight's
misfortune benefiting the oft mentioned Jackie Paisley? So what
difference does it make? The contest is the thing for me. Keep your
medals and trophies.

So you believe, on some level, that the winner was based on financial
considerations?
MuscleTech (Cutler's sponsor) has deeper pockets than BSN (Coleman's)?

That was actually clearly stated in one article I read.
Who wants to watch a show when the winner is a foregone conclusion?
Booooring!

Yes. I've no proof, but still.....
Statements were made in the past that his condition was a bit off, and
he still won.
I looked at the contest pics. His goal this year was to come in as close
to 300 lbs. as possible.
His legs were smoother than Cutlers, but that's a personal opinion. I'm
no BB judge. ;-)
I think he made a mistake.

Last time I looked, it was about 4 months worth. Add that to vacation
time that accumulates at the rate of about 30 days per year. I eat away
at that a bit with random days off and try to take longer periods in
April and October. I have 2 weeks off the end of this month.
I can only accumulate 350 hours vacation, then it starts "going away".
I can also donate vacation hours to co-workers but not my extended sick
leave, unfortunately.

MD only did it tho' until their magazine circulation increased
sufficiently. Then they stopped for the most part, except for "page 69",
but that's all BB chicks at events, not deliberate soft porn like they
had before.

Neither one of them were very bright... With thousands of square miles
of desert to dump a body in where it might never have been found, they
instead chose to attract attention to it?
In their own car?
The whole thing is freakin' weird!
One wonders what the true story really was. Who knows? It might have
been a B&D scene gone horribly wrong? That kind of thing does happen
from time to time, especially when morons play around with erotic
asphyxiation. I've read of court cases on that kind of thing before.

Oh really!
So you think maybe Coleman is missing his peak condition by trying to
stay to heavy?
IMHO Cutler has never looked better. I'm feeling a bit of sympathy for
Coleman now. ;-) He worked very hard to get to be where he is, but of
course the same goes for Cutler...

Excellent on the 2 weeks and all the rest.

I've never heard of the donate option. Sweet. I imagine people are very
nice to you. In fact, I'd say you shouldn't be the one cleaning the
break room! )

All true. The fact remains that a woman is dead and the people -
supposedly her friends, definitely at least a former if not current
roommate - around her went insane. And I'd never call that a defense
either. Titus, Ryan, and the guy who delivered the kerosene to the
desert? All locked up for a significant period of time. I'd want a
story. A believable one, too, before the cells would be unlocked.
This could spin off into a rant re the Iraqi murder trial and that Navy
petty officer who came forward to testify against the Marines, but it
/won't/. (Kindasorta.) Google Melson Bacos for an example of how being
involved in a murder can be, uh, not a good thing. Yeah, he was in
between the rock and the hard place to be sure, but...
A better search string is Navy petty officer, Marines, Iraqi murder.

I have no idea about contest prep, but the one report on Flex's website
offered that Coleman looks like he's improving and that he may win the
Amsterdam GP.

True. I was feeling bad for Coleman re the nine consecutive wins and
that idea of "making history" but Coleman's done that already. Now I
like the idea that he and Cutler have that in common, adding to that
circle of Mr. O winners. Not that Arnold, Sergio, et al. get together
in the Mr. Olympia treehouse and throw water balloons down on the "also
rans".
D'OH!
But it does seem that it would be cool to have someone else be Mr.
Olympia after all this time. In some way, I'm guessing only, the
pressure must be off now that Cutler's the one holding the Sandow.

Hey, is it happening now? The GP?

HA! I tried to go to URL http://www.flexonline.com/news/162 which I'm
assuming will be the Amsterdam report, but it automatically sent me
back to 161.

I'm looking forward to it. :-)
I have some major yard work that needs to be done pre-winter and the
weather will be nicer, encouraging outdoor work.
I also will be putting in some range time with my father.

<lol> I'm night shift......
They are in the process of re-building our break room and making it
larger. We are finally going to have a full sized refrigerator! Yay!
Going to have to set down rules on it too. Names and dates on all items
or they will be tossed! That's how the ER nurses run theirs.
You know how refrigerators can get.
As for giving away excess vacation hours, the employees asked HR for
that option. Seemed the right thing to do instead of just losing excess
hours for those of us that have been there for a long time. The longer
you are there, the more hours you accumulate up to a point. It's a
longevity bonus.
They value their more experienced people. I'm now working on year #20.

Never said their was, but in excess it can detract from a serious
magazine. <G> IMHO anyhoo.
'sides, they were T&A models, not fitness chicks.
There were some really bad implants on some of them.

Their story is not believable... She died from a drug OD? So why was she
bound and duct tape? That story does so not hold water.

Don't go there. <G>

Tweaking in contest condition can be a real trick from what I've read.
It's a real science.

I still think that having the same person win it year after year hurts
ticket sales... Especially since the majority opinion holds that his
condition was off on 2 occasions and he should not have won.
D'you think Lou' should have beat Arnold on any occasion?

Hot and sour from the local chinese place. ;-d
I don't need to be sick to buy that stuff. <lol>
I cooked Sunday dinner today: http://tinypic.com/2cdv4sl.jpg http://tinypic.com/40lg8l0.jpg http://tinypic.com/4cutsgl.jpg
4 oz. bacon wrapped fillet mignon, grilled ($3.99 for a package of 2 at
the store so that was easy), Butternut squash stuffed with sauteed'
chicken breast, onion, garlic, baby spinach leaves, sesame seeds and
lemon pepper, steamed red swiss chard and corn on the cob.
I still have some of my plate left over, the housemate wiped his out. <G>
