Default REDS bodybuilding magazine

I was at the supermarket and noticed a bodybuilding magazine called REDS. It
is $5.99 like Musclemag and most of the others.

Has anyone read it? I don't want to waste $6 on another crappy bodybuilding
magazine, so I was just wondering if anyone has had a chance to look at it
and what did you think?

Without looking at it, I can tell you the odds are very good that it is
another crappy bodybuilding magazine.

What do you think is the best bodybuilding mag around? I used to buy most of
them about 10-15 years ago, and at some point I reached the saturation level
of bullshit.

Now I am starting to miss the articles, but I want to read a good mag that
is not just the typical faggery and bullshit.

Bodybuilding is not my thing. There are a lot of good resources on strength
training, olympic lifting and general cross training available in book or
DVD form. Hobbes has mentioned quite a few of them. I'm nowhere near his
level of ability or intensity, but that's the direction my training has been
going in, coupled with an increased emphasis on whole foods as opposed to
processed sugar/starch laden junk. If you have a good local library, they
typically have the major BB mags. I wouldn't believe anything in them
without cross checking other sources.

So STFU! Ice skating's not my thing, but you don't hear me crying
about that sport.

REDS?

What country are you posting from? Perhaps you're looking at the
Soviet version of REPS!

http://www.repsmagazine.com/

D'OH!

ATP*, stop blubbering. Robert Schuh is ahead of you on my Big Dope
list. I'm sure you're concerned about that.

"Bodybuilding is not my thing."
"Bodybuilding is not my thing."
"Bodybuilding is not my thing."
"Bodybuilding is not my thing."

Shaddap you!

Uh, and as long as I'm ranting...

Donnie, there's this thing called BROWSING! You stop pushing your
shopping cart in the grocery and you pause long enough to flip through
the table of contents of the magazine you're curious about. You might
even stop for a long enough period of time to actually read the whole
damn magazine. I've never had any clerk approach me and direct me to
make a purchase or move on. Grocery stores are very generous in that
vein. Though I've never tested it, I do recall a comedian commenting
that you can walk into a grocery store, pitch a jar of pasta sauce on
the floor and all that happens is you'll eventually hear something
like, "Wet clean up on aisle nine!" They don't even charge you for it!

So if you're concerned over a measly six bucks then (well, ONE, get a
new job, pal) simply read the mag in the store. Otherwise join ATP*
over at the punch bowl at my STFU party, okay?

Fwiw, MuscleMag International is the best magazine going. MD has the
best online presence. And BodySpace is the best online bodybuilding
community, bar none.

Some Roid Fags big steroid head was over the P and I just glanced at the
cover and I wondered what the fuck the title was. I thought REDS was some
kind of steroid.

Is your attention typically attracted by "Some Roid Fags big steroid
head" on the cover of a magazine?

....

And at just a glance?

Rhetorical.

Sure. I buy that.

> I thought REDS was some kind of steroid.

Riiiight. Reds. That'd be "some kind of steroid," of course. Uh huh.
Guess you never took high school health class, eh?

Get out! Are you kidding me? Then what's this about being nostalgic
for bodybuilding magazines? What, from waaay back when you were in the
third grade?

Okay. Adjust. If you're truly a student then let me simply say that
Reps! is a good magazine devoted more to the average lifter and not
towards the fan or person who wants to be the next freak show or
monster bodybuilder.

Hit the grocery, break the pasta jar, browse the magazine.

Best of luck.

(Okay, skip breaking the pasta jar.)

Was I crying about it? Did I say there was anything wrong with bodybuilding
groupies? No, I was just providing context to my remarks.

Aw, geeeez. Context is just too much like facts, ATP*.

(plugs fingers in ears)
