Default Shield Diet?

How many free donuts did Vic Mackey have to scarf down to get in that shape?
He was never lean, but now he looks like a Mr. Clean head on a Pillsbury
Dough-Boy body. For the kind of money these guys are making, a little
self-control might be in order.

He looks like the typical police officer who works out. Powerlifter body,
not bodybuilder body. Works well for the job.

More like a Brick-Boy body.

Or, a guy, with a contract guaranteed to pay "the kind of money" he's
getting, might just say pass the frigging donuts!

Just a thought. ;o)

That may be the best show ever made for TV. Been watching it from day one.
No way Vic gets out of this one! Last season of the show for sure.

It is an excellent show. FX has produced some really good shows over the
last few years.

I think an appropriate ending would be similar to what happened to Charles
Bronson at the end of "Death Wish". Vic gets found out, and the
powers-that-be have to let him resign without any charges, because he has
too much dirt on higher-ups. He moves to some other large city, and in the
final scene of the series, he gets hassled by some punk gang members. As
they walk away, he does the Bronson thing, raises his hand, points his
finger like a gun, and says, with a big smile, "bang".

It'll be interesting to see what happens when Mackey finds out Shane killed
Lem. It might be as Shane is dying in his arms, having sacrificed his life
for the team. That would provide for some classic closure. More likely,
Shane will be banging some underage whore and striking a deal with another
Antoine as the rest of the team goes down.

Yes, they really have. 24 is crap compared to the sheild on every level.

I like it, though I can see Vic going down in a hail o bullets trying to
save someone or something like that.

neither.

it was the "peanut butter and beer" diet.

that guys is just disgustingly out of shape...why they ever picked him
for that hulk character in that comic book movie is beyond me.

You might not want to say that to Michael Chiklis' face, or the face of the
many VERY strong police officers who look like that, or any of the
powerlifters who look like that. They might take it personally. They might
hurt you.

Well, I think Chiklis is great. But he got in shape for the beginning of the
series and then let himself go. Now he's back in Commish country. They can
only wrap that man girdle so tight. As far as cops working out, the ones
that do are more likely into being pretty boys, not powerlifters.

Your Fire Island Police Department members are not representative of law
enforcement officers elsewhere.

Hulk, Thing, what's the difference? Wait! One's green and hyooog and
the other's rocky, orange and just slightly less hyooog. Regardless,
it's a hulkING character, right? D

Seriously, imo, Chiklis's voice works for Ben Grimm (the Thing's alter
ego) and, hey, he's a beefy (or fat, you decide) guy. The Thing's no
pretty boy and so why would they need Brad Pitt for the role? Also,
he's bald and so there was no need to deal with hair during the CGI
transformation? I honestly don't recall how they dealt with that in
the first Fantastic Four movie <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120667/>.
Looking forward to the sequel <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486576/>.

I remember the Commish Chiklis.

Ha! Maybe so, but seeing as how the character's suffered a divorce and
increased scrutiny from all sides and even stress from his
crewmembers, I'd say gaining a few pounds works to the character's
benefit so far as verisimilitude goes.

Actually, Mackey would fit right in with the Ocean Beach force:

You don't want to get caught littering by those guys...

Anyhow, we've seen your Reno police force.

Damn you... I had to google that one, but thanks. ;-)

It's going to come in very handy for a carefully worded reply to some
far right conservatives on a private e-mail list I am on.

Guy (a co-worker) was right. Far right rabid conservatives are every bit
as scary as far left flaming liberals! Extremism is not a good thing in
any society.

I walk a centrist ground personally.
Guy is someone I regularly have political debates with at work, but it's
always in a friendly manner. He does not get ruffled anymore than I do
and we've been friends for several years.

I can't believe the list moderator accused me of being a marxist! :-)

Carl Marx was an unrealistic idealist.
The only way his concepts would work would be in a truly Utopian society
where everyone was willing to work their asses off for the common good.

Human nature does not work that way...

The police need to seriously learn to restrict their beatings to
non-vital areas of the human body...

Maybe a human anatomy and physiology course would be a good idea at the
academy?

Typo, sorry.

I did know that...

It's been on my mind from another list.
They pissed me off when I was accused of being a Marxist by one of the
list members. ;-)

Had to do with my outrage over Gas prices.

"Bruce Randall is unique in the annals of strength/bodybuilding
history for his remarkable self-transformation over a period of
several months. Winner of the 1959 Mr. Universe, Randall's training
journey began 6 years earlier while serving in the Marines at Norfolk
Virginia. Originally inspired to bulk up and train with the weights in
order to play football for the base team, Randall went from a
bodyweight of 200 to 250 lbs in just a few months. After deciding to
abandon his football aspirations, Randall concentrated on lifting for
its own sake and bulked up another 100 lbs over the next year. His
training was simple: all manner of presses and the good morning
exercise were two of his mainstays. Reps in the 5-8 range. Never more
than 3 sets per exercise. By 1955 Bruce was weighing 401 lbs and
capable of a 685 lb good morning, 375 lb clean and press, 392 lb
military from the rack, a 680 lb squat, a 771 lb deadlift, 242 lb
strict curl, 482 lb bench with a pause, and a 2100 lb half squat.

Randall then decided to reduce in size and lost 218 lbs over the next
32 weeks, ending up at 187 lbs in 1956. By 1959 Bruce was back around
220 and sported a 20 inch taper between his waist and chest: 29" and
49" respectively. Later on Randall would become a noted lecturer,
strength coach for the Washington Redskins, Diversified Products
representative, and author of numerous books and articles."/copy and

By way of using verisimilitude as a club against some people on a
private e-mail list, I do believe. ;o)

Carl Marx, lesser known than his famous cousin, of course.

Okay, okay, I'll leave the attempts at humor to Tom Anderson and David

The old-timers used to sandwich the head between phone books so they would
leave no marks. I guess that area would qualify as non-vital for some
skells.
