Smashed my car with weights
Rob.. remember the new Lotus Exige S in my garage? I smashed the fiberglass
fender with 200lb when I failed a squat this morning. I should have taken
your advice and gotten a damn squat rack. Let this be a lesson to all of you
who are at least as stupid as I am; Back your sports car out of your garage
before you do squats.

Serves you right. What the hell were you doing squats for?!
You should have just deadlifted the front-end of your car.

That's what you get for buying a plastic car.

Yeah I suppose so. Like the sunblock I bought AFTER I got the sunburn
Saturday. I'm not thinking far enough into the future. The car is not as bad
as I thought though. The fiberglass is repairable. Lotus said they have a
body piece for it.. they're going to to look at it tomorrow.

Its all hand-laid fiberglass. I can see fiberglass where the damage is. If
it were metal, I think it would have been screwed up just as bad. But its a
small panel.. so maybe it won't be so bad.

To enhance the length of my wee wee, of course! What do you think I was
doing squats for??!

I can't quite do 1000lbs unassisted yet (without a car jack).

I'm sure it's fun to drive, but I just don't care for non-metal cars.

I'm just interested in why you don't like "plastic". I think it has it's
use, especially for light-weight cars. I myself used to own an Australian
1971 Ford Falcon which had lost of metal. Including a Cleveland 351 which
probably weighed more than the entire chassis of the Lotus!

Ask her if she likes paper. I mean, perhaps it's not so much car-
related as work-related. Is she a bagger?
I imagine that repetitive "Paper or plastic?" might be rather
annoying.

Best of luck with that. I trust you'll post an update.
I'm certain this will not offer much by way of the "misery loves
company" factor, but I recently "curbed" my passenger-side wheel cover
on my ancient Honda. Slid into a parallel parking spot in front of my
apartment rather than taking all due parking care and "SKEEEEE-
RAAAAPE!!!" Nice three-point scuff.
What, retail value of twelve bucks? I doubt I'll have it
replaced. ;o)
Seriously, condolences on the failed squat and the "failed"
fender.

I just don't. I don't have a good explanation for you. I like old,
metal cars, preferably German and air-cooled. I've never owned anything
else and I hope I never do.

Is that an armored personnel carrier? I learned to drive tanks and
BTRs before learning how to drive a car. When I took my car driving
exam, I used that fact in support of why I deserve a license despite
of my somewhat questionable skills at the time in operating smaller
things, and it worked.

Motherland chose it for me, and I was lucky because my year of the
university enrollment was the last year when students could receive
military training (officer degrees) while studying, instead of going
to the regular army for 2-3 years, after they've been for about 1 year
in the university. Most of my younger friends all came back... uhm not
exactly the same, for better or worse. The army was very good at
setting young boys straight about any romantic and immature thoughts
or "misconceptions". That would develop some practical thinking, but
an interest in science would sometimes be completely lost as well. So,
I had a milder version. Even then, I managed to avoid some of the
routine because of my skills in putting together and fixing
radio/electronics.

The Afgan war was 80-89. I passed the university entrance exams in
83. Males who didn't, or couldn't, would be drafted, but the chances
to go to war were small - in where I lived anyway. We had one war
veteran among the students. He'd always receive a special treatment
from our military training officers - in fact he'd be excused from
many of the drills. I weight-trained that guy in the mornings during
our "final exams" summer camp, when the rest of the students would be
running, fully equipped, in heavy boots, etc - so I was excused, by
association, from that part of the drill as well.

The 11-year-old clay shooting champion was in fact Dick Cheney. The
year was 1952 and perhaps not surprisingly the unfortunate victim was
a then 24-year-old Harry Whittington. Whittington, of course, did not
bleed to death, however his future sexual partners had good reason to
call him "Stumpy".
Cheney, as you're certainly familiar, took another shot at Whittington
February 11, 2006, this time hitting him in the face, neck, and upper
torso.
It seems that Cheney can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned
with. He doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely
will not stop, ever, until Whittington is dead!

Titanium would be amazing, but you would turn a $50,000.00 car into a
$100,000.00 car. :-) The mufflers on the McLaren F1 super car are made from
Titanium and cost $18,000.00 each.

about the game rather than the film, but still good advice, eg for the
DVD.

Just read another good review for Spider-Man 3. They loved the
Sandman, the inclusion of Gwen and Venom, the special effects, the
acting. They loved the movie and called it one not to miss.
The only thing they were negative about was that the Venom symbiote,
rather than making Parker simply angrier and darker also seemed to
turn him into a super geek.
Maybe that's the reason I hate the movie so much. As a certified geek
(nerd variation, not techno or math geek), seeing Peter Parker behave
like a) such a lovesick goober preVenom and then like b) such a reject
from Saturday Night Fever (a really cool movie by comparison, btw),
well, it's frigging embarrassing.
Nah, it's not just the nerd factor. I hated the whole ball of wax (or
web? D'OH!).
Actually, the goblin was cool. It should've been _The Goblin Returns_
with Harry versus the Sandman. They could have killed Tobey and
Kirsten or Kristen in the first five minutes of the movie, Venom's
comet or asteroid could've missed Earth entirely, the Daily Bugle
building could've collapsed killing everyone inside and a few people
on the sidewalks, too - including Gwen Stacy's dad and the Sandman's
wife and kid and that professor and THEN I'd love the movie. Yes.
