| | | Was Steve Reeves gay? The late bodybuilder turned actor who originated the "Sword And
Sandal" genre, most notably with his portrayals of Hercules. Anyone
ever heard anything one way or the other about him? He married a
couple of attractive blonds but that doesn't necessarily mean
anything. I know he never had any kids. |

I don't know whether he was gay or anything like that, but he had kids
all right, a son and a daughter. |

No, he was straight. |

I can attest to that. As a Senator, I get to travel around a lot, and one
evening at the Dallas Airport I happened to be in the restroom during a
layover between flights. As I gazed in the mirror, I noticed a very handsome
older man walking by and heading towards a restroom stall. He stopped to
urinate first, and as I stood next to him and gave him a good look, he
looked up at me and I realized he was Steve Reeves! I said hello and
introduced myself, and he gave me his business card and told me that he was
in town for some kind of promotional tour for his book. As he shook and
zipped up, Reeves excused himself and entered a stall.
Well, I just happened to need to go also, and I went in the stall next to
him. I am a big man, and I naturally spread out when I sit on the throne. As
I dropped my pants I spread my legs and my large feet happened to drift into
Steve's stall. I was nervous from some misunderstandings that I have had in
various restrooms across America because of my wide stance, and I did not
notice that I was tapping Steve's foot. Well, before I could say "excuse me"
a big hand grabbed my ankle and almost broke my leg off and I heard him say
very clearly "What's your damn problem, pal?"
I literally shit my pants. I did not respond and Steve left the stall after
he had finished, and I stayed for a while just to avoid seeing him. I am
pretty sure he was not a homo. |

Hmm..What's your source? I was told specifically that he never had
any kids and have never read word one about any kids of his, nor ever
seen any pics. There was a lengthy article on him and his life in
Muscle & Fitness in the 80's and no mention of kids. |

Wasn't Christopher Reeves his son? They used to go horse-riding together.
Chris was very upset when Marlon Brando got the role of Jor-El, as he had
wanted his real dad to do it. |

You seem to have all the makings of a great tabloid writer. You
clearly have mental issues and don't have any problem with making shit
up as you go.
Btw, no Christopher Reeve (no "s") who played Superman was no relation
to either "Superman" George Reeves - whose real last name was Bessolo,
or Steve Reeves.
But, it's good to see you doing your bit to perpetuate one of the
myths that won't die. |

He did welcome the admiration of all his fans, gay or straight. When

Well, the muscle magazines only do a retrospective like four times a
year -- not including the inevitable honorable mentions whenever they
do an Arnold "special" four times a year!
Steve Reeves...he was Arnold's Number One Idol growing up...he retired
to South Africa after Hollywood...somebody's Jewish in his family
'cause he was wearing a yarmulke at his son's wedding...likely has
grandkids now -- I'm sure they have a dog or two as well! =) |

If you knew Steve, can you shed some light on whatever happened to the
appearance he was supposed to make on the Kevin Sorbo "Hercules"
series? |

I think you may need to fire your fact-checker. AFAIK, Reeves lived on
a ranch in Ca. I'd concur that he never had kids. If you disagree,
provide a citation to the contrary. I read where Arnold said
specifically that Reeves wasn't his big idol, it was Reg Park. |

Agreed, however years ago during an appearance on The Tonight Show,
Arnold began speaking about his childhood hero. I immediately thought
he was going to praise Reg Park. Instead, I was surprised to hear
Schwarzenegger say that John Wayne was his idol. Wft? Not that the
Duke would be a poor choice as hero. Guess it was an example of
tailoring your story for your audience. Carson's viewers would more
likely recognize John Wayne versus being generally mystified by any
mention of a former Mr. Universe named Reg Park.

Definitely.
I believe Schwarzenegger stated in his bio, The Education of a
Bodybuilder, that Reeves didn't appeal to him as much as Reg Park's
rugged appearance/persona.
On topic Steve Reeves: He was married - which, yeah, doesn't
automatically disqualify him as homosexual - and I recall him being
described as a devoted husband.
