Default Strange medical story

(courtesy of the wife)

A cow-orker of hers brought up THIS one. He needs to have abdominal
surgery to cauterize parts of his rectum because of the strains of
weight lifting and other high-intensity, high-body-stress sports. He's
also been told "it's a common occurrence" in athletes, especially weight
lifters.

I've never heard of it, legendary or otherwise; the only way I can see
that happening is valsalva, and that's a stretch of the imagination.

Any insights?

His idea of weight training is beer arm curls and absolutely no fibre in
his diet, ie - he has hyoooooge haemorrhoids...

I'm not even going to click on that to see some photoshopped image of an
accident that would only happen if you pulled too many G's without a
pressure suit.

You've probably already seen it.
It's been around awhile. ;-)

To date, I've yet to see proof it's a photoshop.

Have you seen proof that it's genuine then?

Ps, a Snopes search has not been productive either.

Ask Keith - he can provide more info than I.

It was done by a member of the Strength List as a joke a few years ago.
