Default stubby weight bench

Hi,

I'm trying to find a decent flat bench with a height of no more than 17
inches. All the benches I can find locally or on the internet are
either 19-25(!) inches or very costly.

Does anyone know of a 17 inch tall flat bench in the $100-$200 range?
A major brand that I could find at the friendly neighborhood fitness
store would be nice.

thanks,
Maury

Would you split the difference? New York Barbell has an 18-inch bench
for $99.

Or how about this:

Only 7 inches tall for a mere $89.

Put ten inches of schtufff under it to meet your 17-inch requirement.

Btw, have you tried visiting the friendly neighborhood fitness store?

Thanks, but no thanks. I tried a 17" adjustable "gym quality" bench
(retail: $1400) at my friendly neighborhood fitness store and decided
that the extra inch aligns my back properly. I don't relish the idea
of attempting a PR with ten inches of possibly unstable "schtuffff"
between me and certain disaster.

I have, yep. All four of them. That's how I know that Parabody, Tuff
Stuff, Body Solid, and Hoist all have 19" or 20" flat benches. I
reckon if I knew of a brand that sold a 17" bench I could check the
manufacturer's website to locate a friendly neighborhood fitness store
that I've overlooked.

Hmm. Let's play weight training cyborg, shall we?

"This does not compute."

Or mayhap bodybuilding Vulcan?

"Illogical."

Why not save yourself those fourteen hundred clams and simply put some
boards under your feet? Certainly your back won't know the difference
if it's 17 inches, 18 inches, 19 inches, etc. off the ground so long as
you elevate your feet so that your body aligns as it does using your
aforementioned bench.

Get the 19, then go to a local welder and get him to cut 2 inches out.
Voilla!
