| | | Torn Biceps? Two weeks ago, as I was trying to catch a box at work, my right arm gave
out, and it felt very sore at the biceps. Since then, my biceps does not
look normal and it hurt for a few days but now it is just mildly sore when I
try to flex it.
I have lifted weights, and I am doing about ten pounds less with that arm
than with the left arm. I am right handed, so my right arm should be
stronger.
I went to see a doctor and he said he did not think it was torn. I tried to
get an appointment with an Orthopedic doctor and they are like three months
from now.
What should I do in the meantime? Keep working out the arm and hope the
biceps goes back to normal?? |

He's wrong, you tore something. Muscle or tendon, something went
SPRROONNNGGGG.
If it's a tendon, probably too late to fix it now.
Rehab. Go see a physical therapist.
I could be completely wrong. I'm not, but, there ya' go.

How is that possible? These are people with higher than avarage
intelligence, and are well educated.
How can they be wrong ?!?!?!

So has anyone ever had a torn muscle/biceps? While I wait to see the Ortho,
should I keep trying to work out and otherwise stimulate growth? Leave it
alone, and hope it re-attaches? |

If the muscle itself is torn, it doesn't need to re-attach unless the tear
is at the attachment point with the tendon [please feel free to correct any
terminology mistakes].

I had not thought of that---So the doctor may have meant that the only tear
was in the muscle, not at the tendon. Does the muscle ever heal correctly?
Is the biceps going to stay now at the top of my arm as it has been since
the day of the accident??
Any help will be appreciated, as the medics in this area give about ten
seconds of explanation before calling in the next patient.
Thanks! |

WTF? Dude that sounds like a complete detachment of one of the
muscles. The only cure for this is surgery. You doctor just sent you
on your merry way?
Weird.

That's quite a crucial bit of information that you have previously omitted
there! Personally, I would go to my A&E department.

As Bully pointed out, Mr Man left that little piece of the story out.
And it merely confirms what I told him, but more likely pinpoints it to
a tendon rupture.
If the doctor "sent him on his merry way", he's got a good malpractice
case, as it is probably too late to fix it now.

Depends on your definitions. My normal daily carry is a Seecamp .32 in
a Thad Rybka custom pocket holster in my left rear pocket; either a
Keltec P11 9mm in a Jerry Ahern custom pocket holster or a S&W
scandium/titanium J frame .357, with Crimson Trace laser sight grips,
in a Rybka pocket holster, in my front right pocket; and one of a
number of large folding "tactical" knives in my front left pocket. In
the few weeks of Las Vegas winter, when I can wear a coat or jacket, I
sometimes add a Kimber Ultra CDP Elite II .45 in a Kramer horsehide
belt holster.
I am always armed with my biting wit.
And extreme modesty.

Why dont you move up North?
So you can carry more concealed weapons at once. You know, like Travis...
Its a lotta guns, but i am still convinced you should mount that .50 on top
of your roof.
Perhaps heavier...

I don't know how he gets away carrying what he does. People freak out
over weapons where he lives. Whereas way up in Maine it is probably
normal. |

Is the memory failing you David?
When the term "heavily armed" (or gunz) is used, it naturally refers to the
twenty pounds of beef that you carry on each humerous bone. |
