Default Total weights in one hour

Does anyone count the total amount of weight used during a workout? I have
been doing it for a few months to track my progress. Although useless in
some regards, its still interesting. Just add up the number of weights you
lift during a one-hour full body workout. Only count weights that you lift
12" or more in one hour's time. Don't count every 12".. just count the
weight once per rep.

I suspect some of you do 150k, 200k, or more. Squats and bench press really
add up.

For example, I weigh 170lb and my max is 52,760lb in one hour.

Actually intensity is generally regarded as percentage of max.

This would be considered total load or volume.

It is still a good way of keeping track. Many olympic lifters and
powerlifters track training load by tonnage. Since they are normally
doing only a few exercises it is a good way to control training. So
often they would use a classic wave loading scheme and use tonnage to
measure work load.

I was picking a nit. It is the general definition by professionals and
yet 'intensity' to a HIT devotee is an entirely different thing. I agree
that by normal language lifting 10,000 lbs in one hour would be more
'intense' than lifting 10,000 lbs in 4 hours, for example.

So really to me the idea is correct. Just terminology is slightly
different.

np Rob, you're right but I did say its somewhat useless, however it is
interesting for benchmark purposes... to me, at least.

I have done this in the past and must observe that comparing an upper
body workout to a lower body workout is very revealing. Hell, if you
want pure tonnage just do calves 5x5.

Bicep concentration curls will truly reveal the inner woosie compared to
squats or cable rows.
