| | | Transverse Abdominus Is there any machine that will directly or primarily hit my transverse
abdominus?
Or am I stuck to breathing exercises?
Thanks,

This was asked and answered recently. If it wasn't on mfw, then it was
on another of the weight lifting newsgroups.
Lift heavy things, e.g., squat or deadlift, and you will activate your
TVA. Google "valsalva maneuver weightlifting" and similar to read more,
see also Pavel's, "Power To The People!" where he discusses this at
length, http://www.kbnj.com/ptp.htm Read also Paul Chek.
> Or am I stuck to breathing exercises?
The breathing exercise would be to inhale through your nose into your
belly _without_ allowing your belly to expand - you might as well pick
up something heavy at the same time.
Just my opinion.

Don't read Paul Chek. His theory that you should suck in your abs during
a heavy lift is biomechanically flawed.

I agree with you, Keith, but I wouldn't throw him out altogether.

I think I just might. Too weird for me.
Chek it out. http://www.paulchek.com/pps_overview.asp
Personally he seems to be trying to create almost a cult-like thing.
Weird stuff!

Well, that is a look for his web site I haven't seen before - weird, I
agree. But he has had some good things to say in the past. I tried the
articles link on the site and it was busted - I was hoping to point out
something good and useful there.
