Call a place that sells treadmills and ask for the name and phone number
of a repair person. I brought a used, commercial grade treadmill home
from my YMCA when they upgraded. It cost me $200 to the Y, $100 to have
it moved, and $175 for the repair person to give it the once-over, but I
feel like I got my money's worth - the thing will probably still work
when I'm six feet under.
Without knowing what it would cost to repair versus what it would cost
to replace, it's tough to say what's worthwhile and what's not. My
guess is that replacing the belt is not a complicated job for someone
who does this all the time.
