| | | Well shit, I had to go to the ER I lifted weights as usual then all of a sudden my heart rate went to 264bpm!
Called 911, fell on the floor and the next thing I know they're giving me
adenosine. Now THAT felt like shit! They spilled some on my leg and it felt
like gasoline. My heart stopped beating, then went to 150bpm.. they loaded
me up and I was at the ER for the past 6 hours. I'm not supposed to workout
until I see my cardiologist... the same cardiologist who never returned my
call when I asked him if it was ok to work out (or if I would die). Well, I
guess it was "you could die" and not "you won't die". Frick. Anyone else
have this? I guess not, or you wouldn't be snooping around in mfw. I'm
screwed?

Thank God, no!

Weird that you still work out with all these medical problems.

Think so.
Yeah, you are fucked.

spread my lifting out over 5 to 6 hours a day. (3 times a week) Sounds like
your trying to do everything in one hour. You on roids or something? |

Nearly all causes of narrow complex tachycardias are fairly easily
treated once properly diagnosed, and are rarely associated with the
word "die". Don't lift anything that could hurt you if you suddenly got
weak and dizzy, like heavy bench, and go get your problem treated.

On roids as per Rx and I'm trying to do it all in 45 minutes non-stop. |

Still it sounds rather like paroxysmal tachycardia. With the sudden
onset and all that. |

You have a heart monitor or what? I've got a Polar T31 that I rarely
use anymore.
Hmm. Let's see. It's 220 minus your age and then, what, 80 percent of
that number for your top heart rate?
So if you're about *NEGATIVE* ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE YEARS OLD then you
should have been good to go.

Follow Cohen's advice and maybe you're not.
Best of luck.

I am a cardiologist. You need to make sure your cardiologist has:
1) The EKG from the ER before they gave you the Adenosine
2) Exactly what happened when you got the Adenosine
3) Exactly what the EKG showed after you got the Adenosine.
You may have what is called AV nodal re-entrant tachycardia that went
very fast (usually they go around 180 beats per minute ) and the
150/minute rhythm might have just been a normal rhythm that was fast
becasue you were dehydrated form working out. if you have AV nodal
re-entrant tachycardia then it is easily curable with an ablation
procedure (about 3 hours, done with you awake). Ask your cardiologist
if he thinks you should see an electrophysiologist. |

Thanks - I got the EKG when they took it in my house before the Adenosine,
then after (when it converted). I will bring all that with me and ask if I
should see an electrophysiologist. I'm going to see the cardiologist on
Monday. I saw my endocrinologist yesterday and she lowered my T4 medicine
because I was a little bit hyperthyroid. But she said that isn't the cause
of the PSVT. We'll see what the cardiologist says. Would you care to look at
my EKG if I post it online? just for shits and giggles
