What happened to MFW?

This used to be a great place. Really smart people used to post here. Really
really smart people. We even had a lady who could guide a horse bareback
with her sphinctre muscles. Now the standard has dropped big time. This
place is now infested with scammers and hucksters and all manner of riff
raff. I am really disappointed. Really really disappointed.
Meantime I have a lot of fat around my belly. Can anyone tell me the fastest
way to get rid of it? I am looking for a 6 pack. My BF right now is around
43% - but a lot of it is muscle. Any ideas? Any scammers out there who might
want to point me to their website or to a buy a kettleball or something?

there's no control of spam. Anyway, I've been reading a book called
Protein Power, which I would recommend if you are wanting to lose fat
or just improve health, and the authors recommend weight lifting as
their favourite type of exercise.

funny thing I was recommended to get this book a few months ago and thought
it was a clone of Atkins - just read a review and looks like it makes sense
for quick fat loss - will grab it - thanks for the tip

It's similar, but Protein Power is really more about improving your
health. Losing fat is just one part of that. Low fat diets actually
go back way before Atkins. Dr. Atkins never even really claimed that
he invented it. Anyway, the authors go into some really interesting
medical details that Atkins doesn't touch on.

concept -made it mainstream however to his credit

Atkins diet is not a low fat diet.
It's a low carb diet. He actually encourages you to increase your fat
intake.

If I can take it for long, his "fat fast" is the fastest way of all to
lose bodyfat. The only problem is that it's so little food, you are
constantly hungry.

1,000 kC per day of mostly fat. Cream cheese is one of the easier ways
to do it...

I read Atkins book or one of them - the one I read didn't rely on low
calories just restricted choices . 1000 calories per day is starvation -
not sustainable

That's good. You can't kill a troll, but by means of starvation. Last
time he was "hounded out" he was a real pain. I mean, he used several
different IDs every day, and you couldn't kill him out without lots of
false positives. That was one great victory, oh my, wasn't it?

True. He recommends a max of 7 days for that one. It's used to break
plateaus.

To date, better. Just got off of two weeks vacation. Slept and
re-arranged my sleep schedule the first week, then went hunting the
second week with a mate I met on tx.guns. He and his wife have become
delightful friends and D is mentoring me in reloading skills.

Much to my guilt (me being an animal lover), we went prairie dog hunting
for 5 days in Northwest Texas. My goal was to learn precision long
distance rifle shooting with the new rifle I bought last fall. It's
rated to 1,000 yards accuracy, or so the ads for the Bushmaster
Varminter go. Most of my kills (all 17 of them) were at around 300
yards. My maximum one was at 430 yards.

At least according to the laser range finders that belonged to the other
party members. <g> I could hardly afford 2K US for a toy like that.
OTOH I did blow off about 300 rounds of .223 for those 17 PD's. :-P They
are stupid and stand still for being shot at. The winds there are
variable and gusty, so it's guesswork at compensating for windage and
your landmarks depend on your spotter using the rangefinder. You cannot
see your "target" with the naked eye. It is amazing how the wind can
really affect a projectile moving at 3,200 fps.

I did feel a bit guilty as it's not normally my nature to hunt for other
than food (or critters that cause serious property damage), but, these
critters are only allowed to live due to the landowners profit from
hunting fees. Otherwise, they'd all be poisoned out and the land turned
over totally to agricultural use other than graze. Cows are too slow to
break legs in prairie dog mounds, unlike horses.... or so I've been told.

I dunno. It was educational for sure and I still have mixed feelings
about the entire adventure.

Meanwhile, I'm taking the local City's (free) cop course. The Citizens
Police Academy. :-) It's been very fun and a great adventure, and I'll
be eligible to join the Alumni Association and get directly involved
with community services so can do more volunteer work. I'm looking
forward to that! It's a very good network and is full of seriously cool
and dedicated people. :-) Our local PD appear to be a cut above if you
know what I mean? Unusual, and enlightening.
