Really? Well with a comment like that, it's very evident that you
don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. I hope you never
have to endure the type(s) of pain that those of us with Chronic
Pain Syndrome have to on a daily basis. I'd give anything to be
able to walk for 30mins without wanting to cry towards the end
because I hurt so badly, or go shopping with my daughter, to be
able to go to an amusement park and enjoy myself without having
to make sure I've taken enough pain meds so that I'm able to just
walk out of the place. pfft! enough, your kind truely isn't worth it.

In case you have not noticed, the main reason that this group exists is for
people on pain medications (legit or otherwise) to give each other tips on
which are the best drugs and what to tell the doctor in order to get a
prescription.
For the people who really need it and are not addicts, this is a great
group. For the addicts, this is a very enabling group.
Either way, the best thing to do is let them do as they will and let God
sort it out. I cannot tell an addict via email, and even if someone seems
like an addict, who knows? It is up to the person.
Reminds me of the joke about the zen master who gave the vendor $5 for a hot
dog. After getting the hot dog the zen master waited patiently for his
change and finally asked the vendor "Where is my change?" The vendor
replied: "Change must come from within!" |

I do not think that anyone should have to live in pain. However, there are
some very borderline reasons that some people take pain meds. Like shaky leg
syndrome and a few others that are not so much about pain but about mental
disorders and they are given pain meds and already have a vulnerable
mentality.
The reason that this thread started was over one person who had failed a
drug test and gotten kicked out of their pain clinic because they were
taking ten pills for shaky leg syndrome. Now that is not pain as far as I
know. |

hmmmm - ten pills of what?
i have rls, but i think when you write sls you mean primary orthostatic
tremor?
if so, it does not usually include 'pain' in it's expression, whereas
rls can often have extreme discomfort/pain
so one is left to wonder why they were prescribed in the first place -
t'would appear that there is really more to the saga that has been
described so far.
anticonvulsant medications such as valproic acid (depakote), and gabapentin (neurontin) are the usual scripts to provide some relief.
studies also give hope with cyanocobalamin (cobalamin - form of B vit.
corrinoids) and pramipexole (mirapex)
levodopa used to be used until taken off of u.s.a. market.
in most cases, rls expresses when at rest and may abate with movement,
while sls expresses when weight bearing and may abate when at rest |

As I said before, everyone with a necessity for any kind of medication
should get whatever they need. Certainly no one should live in constant
pain. |

RLS can be caused by many things, but so far, it is basically idiopathic.
I've had it since 1991. Pain meds work very well and if you don't want to be
impaired at all, many sleep centers are prescribing Methadone for it.

That is why I said people who NEED ( that means that they are in pain
not addicted needs) pain medications need their meds like a diabetic
needs their meds. Addicts need their meds to feed their addiction but
they don't need it to control pain.

I do not have any agenda. I am not in law enforcement, health insurance, or
the medical field. I agree that everyone in pain should get their pain meds.
However, you (Rob Shue) have a history of drug abuse that includes
incarceration in a federal prison. Therefore, when you are taking several
medications for shaky leg syndrome, I wonder if you need them all.
Only you know for sure. I hope you are in good health and otherwise fine.
Good luck to you in everything. |

You can, with about 1% the probability of addiction from using the
same amount of the same drug without the pain.
