Default Women's gyms that allow men?

I am wondering...are there any women's gyms that allow men? I prefer a
women's gym over a coed gym because of the unwanted attention I
receive. However, I do not want an environment that is totally female,
just mainly female. I do approach men at the gym every now and then.

How would it be a women's gym if it allowed men???

Ah, i see - you want a women's gym that also admits well-behaved, hot sexy
men. I don't know of any of those off the top of my head. But if you find
one, let us know - they might also have a guy's gym that only admits sexy
slutty women, which would be worth knowing about.

This issue went through the courts a few years ago and the verdict was
that women-only gyms are ok. Odds are that any gym that bills itself as
for women will bar all men. You are better off looking for a gym with
an older clientele where you will not be subject to the attention you
do not want. I think you are asking a lot.

Find a pink gym like I go to. This is mostly made up of rich
suburbanites. The few guys there are older. Mostly rich housewives. The
downside - expensive.

Your perfect gym doesn't exist. You tried, but your goal is
unattainable, so you do not have to workout. As a side effect of the
above, you'll receive less of this dreaded unwanted attention. Win
win situation, pure and simple.

Oh, if getting fatter doesn't work well enough try getting older.

It's refreshing to see you progressing from bright-eyed newbie to

True words, I won't argue with most of it. But I'll start to worry
when I'll behave prickly to people who actually seek help without first
trying being kind.

I dont understand how this could go thru the courts and not be labelled
as discriminatory.
Do you see gyms advertising 'men only'? Of course not, women would be
picketing it in no time.
Men have to make them into 'clubs' with a gym as an extra to get under
the radar.
Google 'womens gyms' and you get lots of links, google 'mens gyms' and
you get retail outlets for shorts!
So just not right.

Heh, typical female logic: I want a "women's gym" with men in it
because I don't want men finding me attractive while I'm trying to make
myself attractive to men.

I think women should work their brains more than their bodies.

ROFL.

Okay, seriously, I don't have to be snarky because everyone else will
be, so let's just take this piece by piece.

Do you have any gyms that are within easy distance of you that have
equipment you like? Have you considered trying THAT gym? If there is
more than one reasonable choice, how about you try out each of them.
Chances are they'll mostly be filled with humans with bodies that need
exercise, just like you.

As for the unwanted attention, try a couple tried and true tricks. Wear
headphones and don't make eye contact. Wear baggier clothes - a t-shirt
instead of just a workout bra, for example. Show up regularly and get
some friends - perhaps some of the "unwanted attention" are people
attempting to meet you and will form a core group you work out with
regularly.

I know a bunch of people who are intimidated by the big bulky sweaty
guys in the weight room. But not me - they're my workout buds. They're
good guys to have on your side.

FWIW, the women's gyms I've seen have had pitiful equipment. I much
prefer a gym with serious lifters because it'll have serious equipment.

As those of us who have observed a significant number of years speed
past can testify, there is no particular effort or qualification to
achieve "getting older". Despite whatsoever one does, if one survives
each successive day, one *will* eventually get old.

There is however a degree of skill involved, as there are any number
of sometimes lethal obstacles on life's circuitous route, which will
need to be successfully navigated with each successive year, if the
dubious joy of aging is to be experienced to its ultimate conclusion.

Of course the "ultimate conclusion" is that at the end of life's
journey, one fucking dies, which is a somewhat meaningless reward or
conclusion for the successful but ofttimes difficult navigation of our
allotted "three score and ten."

HAGW! ;o)

Here's another one: Scrawl "I'm not here to talk" in big letters on the
back of your baggy t-shirt with a Sharpie. If somebody bothers you to whom
you do not wish to talk, turn your back on them and point to the text on
your back. If you don't mind talking to the person in question, remain
facing them :-D

Back in the day, I could say the same thing. When I started lifting 30
years ago at my college gym, I was the only woman in the room. The guys were
perfectly pleasant to deal with in the gym. We'd spot each other as
appropriate and otherwise leave each other alone. Outside the gym, though,
I was fair game. If I ran into one of these guys at the library or the
cafeteria, they'd be a lot friendlier than I might have preferred.

In recent years, in public gyms, I get these weenies who come up to me and
essplain that I'm doing something wrong or shouldn't be doing it at all,
that I'm lifting too heavy, that I'm squatting too low, blah blah blah.
When I used to go to a commercial gym, I used to carry around copies of
articles on the proper squat form and deadlift form to give to fucktards
like this when they'd bother me.

Personally, I work out at home as much as possible, with my own benches and
standard weights (and my BF to spot me as needed :-) But there's always
the gym at the nearby hospital ($4 per visit for non-members) if I want to
play with the big toys.

Define unwanted attention.

Regardless, your seeming requirements will, I'm guessing, prove rather
unattainable. One scenario that may meet your perferences might be a
key gym. A private gym or workout area which you and friends would
create and where you would also be able to invite specific people to
workout while barring undesirables.

Good luck with that.

Alternatively, you could simply purchase a membership to any facility
already in existence. While putting aside the coin necessary for your
gym contract, well, you could also buy an iPod which can prove useful
as a conversation squelcher.

And: Williams, have you no imagination?

Here's your text on a t-shirt, ep. This guy, however, probably doesn't
need a Sharpie or that t-shirt to discourage unnecessary gab.

Indeed, I got the idea for the text from someone here giving a link to such
a shirt sold by Animalpak. The problem with this ready-made shirt for us
women, however, is that the text would be on our tits. I have generally
found it a bad policy to wear text on my tits in gyms. Hence the idea of
writing said text on my back. In large print. ;-)

I imagine the large print would keep all but the most nearsighted of

But thats the only place men are staring at when they face you or talk
to you (dazed deer in headlights look) hence they wouldnt see it nor
comprehend it on your back (ok unless it was across your ass as their
other main focal point for staring! I like some of the tshirts here

This thread inspires a new category. "Dumbest question of the month"

A women's gym that allows men seems to be a contradiction in terms - or
maybe I am not understanding it. (or maybe we have ourselves a real live
bimbo finally)

Do you go to a small or large gym? I found when I was in a small gym
I made a number of friends and probably talked too much. In the large
gym I go too now nobody talks to each other. I tend not to talk to
the women at all. They kind of scare me with their weird exercises
and next to no weights I don't understand why they workout so much
different then the guys. .

Especially if it's in Braille.

OMG!! A troll??? Are you sure??? I can't believe how unsuspecting people
going about their day to day business could be duped in such a fashion!

I can't be "sure", and given that the group expert on all things
"trollish" is on holiday (I think), then we won't know for "sure"
until he returns to active duty, and has carried out his usual
'in-depth' investigation.

But to my unskilled eye, it does look a tad suspicious. What do you
think, although I am aware that "trolling" is not something with which
you are particularly familiar?!! ;o)

Sunday morning musings:

It appears to me that we have secured an admirable replacement for
Dally/Dolly/Dilly/Delenn/Wendy, that athlete/triathlete extraordinaire
who got frightened fartless by "Lucas Buck", in the form of recent
arrival Edna the Pearl.

Here is a 'girl' that's been around the block a few times, seen it and
done it all, and got the "baggy T-Shirt" (with "fuck off" on the back)
to prove it.

Not only an authority on all things to do with fitness and training,
with a bent to PC, Feminism, liberalism and 'feistyness', but an
absolute expert in dissuading ardent gym 'fanny rats' from approaching
her with a 'view to'!!

However, in my experience, the females who get the fellows in the gym
to fawn over them with tongues hanging out, are usually the good
looking younger ones with the 'essential bits' in 'interesting'
proportions in all the right places.

Now, we've seen Dally/Dolly/Dilly/Delenn/Wendy in all her 'glory', and
not even her best friend would suggest that she is in any immediate
danger from the attentions of gym Lotharios.

We haven't yet seen Edna the Pearl so displayed, but by her own
description she is past the first flush of youth, of somewhat 'lumpy'
proportions and possessed of a surliness which would be off-putting
even if she were of more glamorous visage.

I suggest that both 'Dally/Dolly/Dilly/Delenn/Wendy' and 'Edna the
Pearl' are worrying un-necessarily, and I seek only to reassure them
that they should frequent the gym of their choice free of such
concerns.

Have a great Sunday ladies - I'm having a quiet and reflective Sabbath
(Christian)! ;o)

Yes.

Yes.

We had "private gyms" in the early/mid eighties, a carry-over from the
seventies. Most "members" had a set of keys.

Those "members" were usually big, steroid consuming guys who drove a
Mercedes, which they used to collect their welfare checks each month. With
usually big gold chains around their big necks. With pit-bulls as a pet.

You get the idea.

They could also fix you up pretty easy with an Asian girl if you had the
desire.

OH, the good old days! I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it.

You are okay.

Maybe you should post as "Joni" instead of "Joanne."
Its a lot more cute. Really, it is

Oh, it very much depends on the quality of headlights.

Do you happen to have anything similar?

There are some guys who appreciate feet a lot, so do not lose all hope.

Why?

So they can actually become intelligent?
