Maybe Sergio (born July 4, 1941) saw that cover as a kid.

Look at that.

Bill Pearl with a tiny waist. As he gained weight, that waist became bigger.
Solid, though...

I think you are right.

That "arms elevated over the head" (victory) pose became his trademark.

Robert also did that pose a lot. And his favorite, Lee Priest, also liked
that one.
For this pose, you need a tiny waist and big arms. Big lower arms as well.

And he (Sergio) was around 12 when he saw it.

When i saw a pic of Serge Nubret when i was 12, he stood relaxed, but his
torso twisted is such a way that his waist looked a bit smaller and his
deltoids bigger.

I still think its one of the best pics ever.

He even tried to pull that "stunt" in Pretoria.

You can clearly hear the judge saying "all the way to the side, Serge"

Arnold tried to copy Park because he saw him as a young teenager.

Yeah, this makes sense.

(i also saw as ton of "blaxploitation" movies, starring Pam Grier...
surprise, surprise! ;-O

a.. "Has served the city of Chicago as a policeman for more than 25
years."
Which proves that ALL cops should be on high doses of steroids. Coleman
does.
Also, firefighters and soldiers should take some test. For obvious reasons.
a..
"In 1986, Sergio survived being shot by his then-wife."

Gee... what a surpise!
She probably shot him in the back, and they are still trying to recover that
bullet. Probably a .32, fired from a tiny, shiny gun. Bitch...

a.. Oliva was renowned for his long muscle bellies and his extremely wide
back.
Yeah...
Most people forget to mention his triceps and lower arms.
a.. Oliva was known for his 28 inch waist, 22 inch arms, and 58 inch
chest.
Lets say they were 21. Thats still one helluva ratio. 75%. Jesus..

He weighed around 230 in contest shape. Imagine him at 280

Iirc, his Universe wins were spread out over several years.

(Googles)

"Other major wins were the 1961, 1967 and 1971 NABBA Pro Mr. Universe."

So, yes, he skipped 62-66 and then again 68-70.

And prior to that, in 1956, he won the tall class in the NABBA
Universe, so that is quite a time spin to be competing at that level.

> Solid, though...

No doubt.

He was a phenomenal competitor and had a great physique. It's sad,
however, that people even at that level have insecurity. I think I
mentioned Markus commenting on his "weak" triceps in his _Made in
Germany_ DVD. Poor? Weak? You placed 8th at the Olympia, Markus! Cut
yourself some slack.

And in the December 2006 MMI, Robert Kennedy offers an editorial titled
_Challenging Father Time_ where he encourages his readers to enjoy
their youth, strength and physique as time doesn't just fly by, it
ZOOMS by. In this article he recalls a 65-year-old Pearl saying, "I'll
never take my shirt off again." There's no context, unfortunately, but
it seems that Pearl is lamenting the loss of his former physique.

Remember the Arnold jpegs bounced around?

People age.

It's just a shame that people can't be grateful for what they have. I
work with several children who have severe physical handicaps or
setbacks. Strong? No. The physical ideal? No. Creative and fun to be
around? Yes, absolutely.

I think I'm going to send Markus an email and ask how I can get triceps
like his.

Priest is a beast. I was surprised by the facial tattoo, but I suppose
I shouldn't be as he has lots of other ink. I can't help but think back
to the days of Oscar State and his edict that points would be deducted
for tattoos. I'm almost certain that Ron Teufel had his shoulder tattoo
burned off due to that opinion. Absurd. (And Teuf's tattoo was a decent
skull with dagger one.)

http://ironage.us/articles/teufel.html

Not a direct link to the tattoo, but there's a bio and an image of him
doing a behind the head abs shot.

Nubret was incredible. And, yeah, this happens - I'm guessing - at
every bodybuilding show. It even happens with the Figure competitors.
At the Maryland State show I attended recently, there were several
competitors who appeared innocently deaf to the judges directions to
turn fully facing left or right.

Someone ask Brink if they deduct points for... stubborness.

Fwiw, I believe AAS should be legalized in the U.S. just as they are in
Amsterdam, Pete, although - like my views on marijuana legalization
versus marijuana use - I'm not sure I'd be the one to partake of the
substances. I just believe it's truly idiotic to throw people in jail
(at taxpayer cost) for things that are no more harmful (and perhaps
even LESS harmful) than, say, alcohol use and cigarette smoking.

I was just visiting http://www.mesomorphosis.com as I recently received
an email for a 20% off coupon or discount from having made purchases
from them in the past.

While at their website, I saw the following article:

http://www.mesomorphosis.com/article...n-steroids.htm

Relates to your comment above, yes?

And perhaps even *more* related to you, AAS, and cops was this
following quote found in that article:

"The Danish cops who were indicted for steroid possession in 2000 were
also found to be in possession of written materials that included a
plan to castrate accused Muslim rapists."

The reference for that quote comes from "Fem betjente sigtet,"
Jyllands-Posten (December 23, 2000).

Seems the Dutch anti-Muslim sentiment goes beyond just you, Pete. ;o)
