Hi Group,
My husband and I have been ttc since September '05.
My husband had a vasectomy reversal in September '05, we have had
unprotected intercourse since then. He has had a sperm count performed and
it is normal.
I am 26 years old. Medium weight, ex-smoker infrequent drinker, living in
the UK. I recently had a blood test done on day 21. My FSH was 3 and my LH
was 10.3. My prolactin was 902, all other counts were normal,
progesterone
levels suggested that ovulation was normal. I have a very regular cycle of
28/29 days with no variation.
My doctor has referred me to the fertility clinic for further tests,
suspecting Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
I have questions:
Is PCOS likely if my cycle is regular? If not, what could be the cause?
At the age of 17 and the age of 20, I fell pregnant whilst taking the oral
contraceptive. These pregnancies were aborted.
The doctor at the time suggested that I could not fall pregnant whilst
taking contraceptives and accused me of failing to take the contraceptive
correctly.
Is it possible that I have a hormone imbalance that the oral contraceptive
went some way towards correcting, therefore enabling me to conceive?
Is there any other possible explanation as to my hormone levels whilst
maintaing a regular cycle?
What tests can I have performed at the local doctor's surgery that would be
useful to the fertility clinic? Are there any tests I can perform myself?
Are there any dietary or herbal supplements that I could introduce that
could help and would have no possibility of having negative effects?
What are the likely procedures I would face at the fertility clinic?
What are possible treatments?
I know, lots of questions!
Any answers, help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jane.
