My name is Stefania Zilinskas, and I work for the Midweek radio
program in Ottawa. I'm doing a radio story on Canada's Reproductive
Technology Law - which makes payment of sperm and egg donors illegal.
As a result of this law, it's become impossible to collect sperm or
eggs in Canada, and all sperm banks have closed. Now, reproductively-
challenged peoples' only option is to import these tissues from
another country, or ask a friend or acquaintance privately. But,
soon, importation of sperm and eggs from other countries will become
illegal as well.
This is an issue that affects many, many people, as they try to create
families of their own. I'm interested in speaking with some people
(preferably located in Ottawa) about their experiences with this
process, and about how this law affects them. By giving your
experiences, you will help foster understanding and awareness of this
issue.
Please contact me if you are interested as soon as possible, at
stefania.zilinskas@gmail.com. Or if you have a friend or family
member who you think might be interested as well, please pass this
message on to them.
My deadline is Friday, February 16, 2007.
Thanks very sincerely,
Stefania Zilinskas
