CAUAYAN CITY: A team of rescuers helping search for the missing Cessna plane in Divilacan, Isabela had to be replaced after its members fell ill.
Divilacan disaster risk reduction management officer Ezequiel Chavez said they had to deploy backup rescuers from the composite teams of police, soldiers, firefighters, environment rangers, disaster responders, and volunteers from the Agtas and Dumagats as some rescuers deployed earlier got sick.
A team was forced to return to the Divilacan base, which is about 7.6 kilometers away. Two other teams continued their search in the leech-infested forests, Chavez said.
Aside from the rigor of opening trekking paths amid the heavy rain, the rescuers also had to endure chilly weather, the disaster response official said.
