    Default Tibetan Medicine and Cancer

I Googled "Tibetan Medicine and Cancer" and came up with a thread that occured last month on this site, with someone named Steve, and a guest named Alan.
I hope it's not to late to add my (our) experience to this.
My husband was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer that had gone into 7 lymph nodes. He had surgery and Chemo, Radiation with Chemo, and more Chemo (Oxaliplatin and 5fu). The cancer then returned to the liver and he had 2 tumours removed from his liver. At this point, he tried Naturopathy - which was a dismal failure, as 19 new tumours appeared in his lungs (inoperable). The Oncologist wanted to start a different concoction of Chemo, but my husband thought he'd try Chinese medicine first. This helped a little, but was horribly expensive, and so he decided to try Tibetan Medicine. The Tibetan Medicine slowed the growth and spread of the tumours - a lot!! His tumours are small, and very slow growing, and are not blocking any airways, so he is still feeling "well". The Oncologist said that as long as he's feeling well, why start him on Palliative chemo, as the chemo will make him feel unwell, and will not cure him at this point. The Oncologist also told my husband that he will start feeling unwell in 6 months - and that was 2 1/2 Years ago - and he's still feeling well!!! I happen to be a skeptic and a cynic - (but I don't express this opinion to him) - He's feeling well, and that's what's important. I have lived in a Tibetan Refugee Village in Northern India from 1973 to 1974 and I've seen miracles and failures with Tibetan Medicine - but I've also seen miracles and failures with Western Medicine! I do feel like we're walking on a razor's edge, and do want him to start Western Chemo - but again - it is His choice, and not mine and I have to be supportive.
I enjoyed reading Alan's comments enormously, as they made complete sense, and yet - we are experiencing something quite unique. Perhaps there is some logical explanation for hubby's extra time with feeling well - perhaps not - But these past 2 years have been the happiest in his life, ironically.
So that's it!!! We are also in Ontario Canada, and would welcome any comments or questions.

    Default Experience with Tibetan Medicine

    Hi there,

I came across your post while searching for Tibetan Medicine. My mother has had some really miraculous experiences with Tibetan medicine in the past. She was diagnosed with a lump on her breast which was cancerous. If I remember correctly, it was the first stage and had not spread yet. She knew a really good Tibetan doctor who she had been to earlier when she had arthritis and went back to her for the cyst. Within a month of taking the medicine, her cyst disappeared. Nothing was showing up on her mammogram anymore and the doctors were quite shocked.

I have a slightly different story though. A couple of years ago I went to the same Tibetan doctor as I had painful acne on my face. According to her pulse reading, my thyroid antibodies were high and she asked me to get a blood test done to get confirmed. I had no other symptoms of a thyroid problem a that point and was full of energy. The blood tests confirmed that the antibodies were slightly elevated. Thyroid hormones were not affected at that point. I started on her medicine about 1.5 years and have been suffering from acute fatigue since then. However, my thyroid antibodies are in the normal range now. All of blood tests come out to be normal but the fatigue is just crippling. According to her I still have some problem left with my thyroid.

In your post, you mentioned that you have lived in a Tibetan refugee village and seen some failures. Would you mind sharing any ? I am really confused if I am having any side effects of the Tibetan medicine or it's actually curing me since my blood work numbers look really good. Also, my mother has a lot of faith in this doctor since she has had very good results in the past.

Does Tibetan Medicine cure cancer? At the moment, Tibetan medicine can be used as a supporting therapy but it is not a substitute to conventional therapies
